Im 14 and I mostly make classical/new-age but I found that ballads are very nice too.

Piano-
My instrument of choice, You can do some much on it, Its just so powerful and is used in most songs and I love playing it, I could close my eyes and drift off into a magical place when im playing. I would Pick guitar and violin as second and third choices.
