I'm a Christian student, mother, blogger, poet and spoken word artist using stage name EyesLikeBlues. I've published a poem and song book "The Rainbow Of Tones" containing poems and Pop, Rock and Gospel lyrics. I'm currently working on my second poem book "Poems Of Universal Love".

I'm on Musicshake because ever since I started writing poems and lyrics it has been my dream to put my writing and music together somehow but I haven't had chance for that until discovering this website and until my discovery of spoken word poetry through neo soul and hip hop. Urban music and culture is my biggest inspiration - it's more than music, it's a lifestyle. My biggest influences are Jill Scott, The Floacist and Floetry, Alicia Keys, Solange Knowles, Ledisi, Buika, Iyeoka, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill.
I'm at this beautiful point of artistry where I'm just getting to know my own thing. I have been a poet since 2004 so that's clear to me. Musically I'm just figuring it out but my route looks pretty simple after all. I love music based on rhythm so my favorite instruments gotta be drums and percussion. So, recently in my real life I became a djembe beginner. OK, so why wouldn't I start building my signature sound in my spoken word tracks around drums and percussion? That's exactly what I'm working on :).
