Cosmopolitan City B: Still traveling generally ESE, but now adding in a tad more southerliness, our second stop is Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

This "harbor of peace" is home to over 2.5 million residents, none of whom could tell any difference between Musicshake and an actual milkshake before the SEACOM cable made landfall a couple years back. It's unclear whether this was exactly a boon, though; because now, in addition to the clueless status most inhabitants retained, they also now have no excuse. However, given that Dar es Salaam also suffers from a complete lack of Baskin-Robbinses, it's at least somewhat comprehensible. Notwithstanding all the preceding, everyone's favorite Zoroaster, Freddie Mercury (he of the mustachioed F2 to F6 range), hailed from just north of Dar out in the middle of the Indian Ocean, sometimes known, a bit more prosaically, as Zanzibar.
