I really enjoy taking one powerful instrument for the beginning of songs; it expresses strong emotion. Then you can slowly add in other instruments that spice up the song. After that you tone it down a little, and for the last part, I did only bass. My morale: have an overpowering introduction and a toned-down ending. If I ended with what I started with, this song wouldn't be the same.
