The inner surface of the sphere is bathed in light at all times. Nearly all top-facing surfaces are sturdy solar panels catching the life-giving rays of the sun and distributing the energy all over the sphere.
Even now, the majority of these panels are still intact and those that aren't buried under decades worth of dust still perform adequately.
On a peaceful cycle, the surface can be downright beautiful, with its massive towers, arches, domes and complexes. It is a dirty and broken beauty for sure.
