Alexlaxton and Link12 (and anyone else who became completely and utterly bored with the recurring themes in the "offworld" trilogy): The preceding entry ends with the tune that is explored in the subsequent entry. The final entry ends with the tune that began the first.

It's meant to suggest a kind of Finnegans Wake perpetual cycle thingy; though one that may have lost a little in the execution.

Conceptually, the trilogy is about finally happening upon Atlantis and its sunken fleet of starships ... just in time to escape from the Earth before it explodes. Landing on a planet in a neighbouring solar system, we sink the ships and begin our despoliation efforts anew as brutes; it never having dawned on us that the spaceships were indeed our ancient ancestors', who used them to escape their exploding world and begin their efforts anew as brutes on the Earth so very many millennia ago.

Yeah, I guess I should quit listening to so much Rush, at that.

I agree with alexlaxton try changing up the melody a bit so that not all of them have the same tune.
