Cosmopolitan City E: Our sights are now set on Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We'll need first to get to the mainland so that we can hire a yak or a unicorn or something for transport. Think you've enough diesel in this gigayacht of yours to get us to Macau, PRC? (Oh, there I go talking to myself again.) No, I'll not be offering a tribute tune to Macau. Sure, Macau's great and all, but really only when compared to Hong Kong. It's actually little more than the marginally curiouser redheaded stepchild, locked away a la Jane Eyre, beaten with whatever was handy. At least that's the conclusion to which my years of assuming the role of a city psychologist tell me to jump. Psychologists are always recommending that I jump; ergo, I needs must be one myself.

Ulaanbaatar (ooh lahn buh TAHR) is the haunt of around 1.2 million Mongolians, not a one of whom was born with the requisite knowledge for spurring movement away from such an isolated locale. Or so it would seem, given that Mongolia is in fact the most sparsely populated country in the world and that those referenced above are presumably still there. A significant portion of that population making around a dollar a day, though indeed a tragedy, is one thrown into still sharper relief when it is considered that a US dollar is totally worthless in Mongolia. It should be noted however that, despite persistent popular opinion to the contrary, residents do not very often make use of the flying toilet. This, even though Denver, USA is a sister city to both Ulaanbaatar and Nairobi.
